The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas

By  |

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is one of the newest resorts built on the Las Vegas Strip, finished at the end of 2010. It stands tall between the Aria and the Bellagio resorts. It’s a magnificent resort that aims at providing high-end service and fine dining and entertainment. The resort includes the weirdly-named fine dining restaurant “Rabbit. Rose. Lie.” — the name includes punctuation, for some reason — and the famed Chandelier Lounge, an extravagant, elegant place with crystal draperies that adorn 3 floors.

The hotel has an admirable design. It consists of two towers, the Spa Tower and the Beach Club Tower. Parking is good, provided on five different levels. Each level has elevators that put you right onto the main floor of the hotel. That makes it very convenient for guests and it’s a big plus for the resort. Most hotels have the parking way in the back and it’s a long walk to the main lobby. To make matters worse, not all of them offer valet, so this was a smart move on the designers. See its location on Google Maps.

The Cosmo caters to adults. The rooms are large and comfortable enough for families and kids can have a great time at the pool but there is nothing else for them to do at the resort. There are no arcades or games to keep kids entertained. It’s more what you’d think of for bachelor/bachelorette parties. The crowd attracted tends to be younger, 20s & 30s. (Also good-looking, if we can generalize.)

The decor could be described as crystal glam. It’s a very busy and active spot, whether you’re in the casino or one of the nightlife areas.

The Casino Room

This busy casino floor gives the impression that everyone’s winning something. The casino floor covers 100,000 square feet and the layout makes it look roomy and comfortable instead of crowded. You’ll find a wide selection of games to keep you entertained throughout your visit. There is a betting window for the Race and Sports Book room located inside of the Book and Stage Lounge on the casino floor for those who want to place a wager but who don’t want to go far from the casino, which is very convenient.

The main drawback with this casino is that it does not have a separate poker room. For a quality casino, this is rather disappointing. However, they do offer poker-type card games throughout the casino floor so you can still get in on some good games, just not in privacy like many high rollers prefer.

Table Games at Las Vegas Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan spreads games of blackjack, roulette, craps, and baccarat plus others. The roulette tables have a minimum of $10 a spin and the limits for the other games vary considerably. Some of the poker-style tables that you’ll find in this area include Three-Card-Poker, Spanish 21, Crazy 4 Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em.

Slots and Video Poker

The casino has over 1,470 different selections of video poker and slots. They have some of the old favorites and newer games like “Wolf Run 2: Into the Wild.” You have your choice of denominations starting at a penny and going up to $500, so you can find the ones that suit your budget the best.

Sportsbook and Horse Racing

The Cosmopolitan’s Sportsbook and Horse Racing room is located on the second floor and it features all of the latest technology in sports betting. You’ll find a comfortable lounge, with 43 individual trading stations where you can place your bets in privacy. The plush seating is very comfortable for watching your favorite games and racing action. You can also use one of the betting windows to make wagers, or you can place bets using mobile tablets.

Entertainment at the Cosmopolitan Hotel

When it’s time for some entertainment they have several bars and lounges where you can relax, socialize and have a great time. The Chandelier Bar is a very inviting lounge where you can enjoy a cocktail and great company. Other options include the Vesper Bar, The Study, Clique, Queue, and the well-known Bond Bar with its lady dancers, where you can enjoy live performances and upbeat music.

The Marquee Nightclub and Dayclub provides guests with a unique experience that’s fun and entertaining. The Nightclub: They have a huge dance floor in the middle of coliseum-style seats and a multi-million dollar stage that’s perfect for all performers. The Dayclub: Big pool on the roof, with DJs and fun, open until sunset.

Food and Restaurants

There are 18 or so different restaurants to choose from at this hotel with some of the most famous chefs around. Some of your options include the Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar and Grill, Estiatorio Milos, STK (steakhouse), Wicked Spoon, E By Jose Andres (you must email to get a table), China Poblano, the wryly-named Eggslut (yes, eggs are served here), and Holsteins (specialty burgers). The designer effect is not merely in the restaurant names; the food is wonderful and unique.

Extras

Every month the resort offers up specials and promotions to increase your chances of becoming a millionaire just for playing at their casino. For example, they sometimes offer a special where if you lose $100 on slots in one day, they will give you back $100 in Identity Play. These promotions change regularly so be sure and check out what the hotel is offering during your stay.

Summary of the Cosmopolitan Hotel

Guests love the modern design and the chandelier in the center of the casino floor gets lot of attention. Many people can’t wait to stay at the hotel just to see it but it’s the wide option of gaming and friendly service that keeps them coming back.

The downside is that this casino does not have a separate poker room.

This is not a great place for kids unless you plan to keep them entertained outside of the hotel. In this case, it would be a nice option because the rooms are large, it has a great pool area and the location puts it right in the center of many kid-friendly attractions. Overall, this is a good place to stay and play games.
